The AX12 combines RadioMaster's proven radio control system with RadioMasterOS. RadioMasterOS is an Android-based platform that streamlines setup, configuration, and field operations while ensuring reliable control performance.
RadioMasterOS is RadioMaster's first Android operating system built specifically for radio control. It offers intuitive model setup and provides access to compatible Android apps via the touchscreen for functions such as configuration, telemetry, and mission planning. This is not Android overlaid on top of a radio, but a dedicated radio control system based on an open Android infrastructure.
The octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage provide smooth performance for control tasks, telemetry data viewing, supported ground station apps, and utilities. The 5.5-inch HD IPS touchscreen (1280 × 720) delivers crisp visuals with 1000 nits of brightness, ensuring clear visibility even in direct sunlight. The responsive touchscreen interface allows users to quickly and intuitively navigate menus and adjust settings in the field.

At its core, the AX12 remains a fully functional RadioMaster transmitter. It supports full 16-channel ExpressLRS control with advanced mixing, arbitrary channel mapping, custom curves (including 12-point custom curves), adjustable dual rates, and channel lock functions. Preset and user-defined model templates, full model import/export capabilities, custom model images, configurable voice prompts, and support for Tools Lua scripts provide great flexibility for advanced settings.

The built-in ExpressLRS LR 1121 module supports 2.4GHz or Sub-G 900MHz bands, offering low latency and stable link performance, with support for Wi-Fi OTA updates for the internal RF module's firmware. The MAVLink passthrough function allows direct use of compatible applications such as QGroundControl and Betaflight Configurator on the remote control to support relevant workflows.

The AX12 display supports video input from compatible digital video systems, while the HDMI output can mirror the screen to an external display or projector for teaching, review, or team collaboration. With the DJI Fly app and a simple USB-C OTG connection, the AX12 can display the live video stream from DJI FPV Goggles directly on its built-in HD screen. This allows passengers, observers, or instructors to view the flight in real-time, while the pilot continues to fly with their goggles. The mirrored display can also serve as a convenient backup screen for safe operations, or for recording or live-streaming flight footage.
